Lift my uterus during the procedure

In this Article

I was referred to Dr. Seckin by my OB/GYN due to a cyst in my left ovary that had to be removed. I also suffered from a prolapsed uterus, and asked Dr. Seckin at our first meeting if he might be able to lift my uterus during the procedure, as well. He agreed, and did a wonderful job. Dr. Seckin performed the lift without using mesh, which is the standard procedure. I found him and his staff to be not only accomplished and professional, but also kind and very available.

My story with endometriosis begins 33 years ago when I was 16 years old.  I got my first period right before freshman year of high school at the age of 14.  I had mixed feelings as all of my friends had begun their periods already so I was happy to finally get mine and become a “woman”.  But I remember being so upset at having to wear pads and feeling inconvenienced.  If I only knew what lie ahead… Soon my periods became very heavy, filled with clots and bleeding that even overnight pads (sometimes two at a time) could not…

We have our life back.  During the last year of our lives I never thought I would utter those words.  Well, I just did and without you I would be fearful to know where my marriage and most importantly my wife would be.  I really am not sure where to begin.  I have been with the one whom my heart will always follow for the better part of 11 years.  She is the strongest most resilient person I have ever known who always can see the silver lining in any situation professionally as well as personally.

MICHELE C. – NEW YORK, NY

Today, after leaving the park with the kids, I went home to continue the day. I decided it was okay to remove from my purse a prescription of Percocet, Tylenol 3 and Thermacare heat wraps. All without fear! That fear that at any time, I could be in pain. Gratitiude and relief are not even close to what I am feeling. I am still searching for the right words to describe this. At any time, I could have pain totally ruin my day.

LINDSAY G. – NEW JERSEY

“It’s just you.” One doctor told me while laughing. “Whatever makes you sleep at night”, was another. This is when I asked for blood work and an ultrasound to make sure I was cyst free because of a prior surgery I had to removed one on my ovary. I was in and out of hospitals for 10 years. Always misdiagnosed. Hunched over in pain for hours and days. After years and years of pain, I took a step in the right direction.

Endometriosis is the major cause of infertility and pelvic pain in women. 1 in 4 of us have it, this chronic disease has been researched for decades but we have yet to find a cure. My name is Lorena Perez and my struggle started at the age of 12 when I first start menstruating, every month I had to be picked up from school.  The pain, nausea, fever and vomiting became the norm. It was not until I was 29 years old that I finally became diagnosed with endometriosis.

CICELY W. – UNION CITY, NJ

Dr. Seckin has a gift.  An amazing gift that there are not enough words to describe how wonderful he is. Since the age of 12 until last year 2015 at the age of 35 I have been suffering from debilitating cramps, back pain and heavy bleeding during my period. Like many women who suffer from endometriosis, I felt alone and defeated thinking I was never going to feel like a normal person at any point in my life.
