I am lucky that I found Dr Seckin

I was diagnosed with endometriosis at the age of 29. That is not where my story began with struggling with the pain. That began when I first started to get my period. My cramps were terrible. After seeing 12… Yes, 12 obgyn’s to see what I could do for the pain, I finally found one who mentioned endometriosis. He performed the diagnostic laparoscopy and then pumped me full of Lupron. In the 10 years since I have had 4 more surgeries. With the most recent one in July of 2016 being the best one yet. Since I had Endo I researched the hell out of it. I have become a member of many different groups online for support and to learn new things or treatments.

I always heard of Dr. Seckin and even went to The Endometriosis Foundation of America’s Blossom Ball as a volunteer a few years ago. I never thought Dr. Seckin was an obtainable Doctor. He was the main Doctor with the Endometriosis Foundation of America, how could he just accept walk in clients like me? Well, a few years later I decided to at least send him my records and see how it goes. I got his response ” I read your case. Brittany from my office will assist you to see me. I will do my best to help you. Take care!” Within a day my first appointment was scheduled! I was so nervous, yet excited. My husband Rey and I sat across for Dr. Seckin explaining everything I go through and how I feel. Since I was more local than some other patients who fly in, he had time to get some tests done before we proceeded. Unfortunately, I have adenomyosis as well so since I wanted pain free, he told me that I would need a hysterectomy. He was standing and almost pacing as he knows this is a difficult decision to make as a 39-year-old, let alone tell her of this being the only thing. I decided enough is enough and let’s move forward to scheduling the excision surgery along with the complete hysterectomy leaving just my ovaries. July 21, 2016 came fast… I was scared but ready even more so when Mother Nature wanted to give me one more cycle of pain 2 days prior to surgery. I had 13 endometriosis lesions removed along with my hysterectomy. Dr. Seckin and the rest of the staff at Lenox Hill were amazing. I was treated so nicely and everyone was helpful. As I left Dr. Seckin’s office today I was reminded again that great people are everywhere looking to help others.

I am lucky that I found Dr. Seckin. He has changed my life. I look forward to telling my success story over and over again as no woman should ever have to endure so much to function like we should. To Dr. Seckin’s staff, Brittany, Kim, and Lucy… You help all of us with your enthusiastic personalities and helpful disposition. Thank you all, I truly cannot thank you all enough. See you for my 6-month checkup!
